How it works

Basically, the potato bag makes your microwave work more like a convection oven. It holds all the heat and moisture in which makes things cook faster and more even. A convection oven works better than a microwave because it moves the air and so the heat is on all parts of the food all the time. The heat is the same everywhere. Whereas the microwave works from the outside in. This is why your potatoes get shriveled on the outside and aren't done yet on the inside.

Recipes and Directions

To cook potatoes: Wash your potato(s), wrap them in paper towels, put them in the bag and stick them in the microwave. The average is about 4 minutes for 2 potatoes. There is no pricking necessary. Take them out and they are fluffy on the inside and soft on the outside...no wrinkly skins or hard bottom to throw away. If they are a little wrinkly simply adjust the time down a bit next time.

Corn on the cob: Take the husk off and run it under water. Wrap in a paper towel and stick in your bag. Put it in the microwave for approximately 2 minutes per ear.

Asparagus: Run a handful of asparagus under water, wrap in a paper towel and stick in your bag. Put approzimately 1 pound in the microwave for about 2 minutes for al dente.

Artichokes: Cut off the stem, run it under water, stick it in a paper towel and throw it in the bag. 7 minutes is all it takes. You know it is done when you can pull out one of the middle peddles easily and the meat scrapes right off.

You get the picture...We know from feedback that they also work for heating rolls and tortillas, cooking sweet potatoes, yams, brocolli, and squash(each for about 2-3 minutes per serving). You can soften garlic also, if you are not wanting to saute it. We have been asked to try cooking fresh green beans, and warming up pancakes and spaghetti noodles. Another use that we were informed of by a customer is popping popcorn. When we have tried them we will update the sight.

Microwaves vary so it may take a few attempts to find your microwaves perfect time. The paper towel is there simply to keep the bag clean longer. It is not necessary to wash the bag between each use if you simply let it dry it is fine to reuse it several times. When you do decide it is time to wash it you can just throw it in the washer and dryer. It is machine washable.
